Personalizing Emails Using Custom Fields

While creating or modifying an email campaign, you can tailor your emails to individual candidates using Custom Fields. To add custom fields to your campaign, either type an @ symbol into the subject or body editor, or click the @ at the left end of the body editor toolbar.

Both options will make the following options appear on a dropdown menu. Refer to the table to find out what each one means.

Note:

Always select variables from the dropdown menu. If you copy and paste a campaign variable instead of selecting it from the dropdown, the system will treat it as regular text and not recognize it as a variable. This means the variable will not populate with the intended dynamic content.

For example, if one of your outreach emails is addressing recipients with the wrong name, check that the template is using the correct variable (for example, @candidate_first_name) instead of a hardcoded name like "Jamie."

If Findem does not locate one or more of the variables on a candidate's profile, you won't be able to send the email to them as long as it contains the variable. This typically happens when candidate profiles are incomplete. To resolve this issue, ensure that candidate profiles are fully populated before creating a campaign. If profiles are incomplete, you may need to manually update or fix the tokens before sending messages.

The system will look for an open ended (x-present) tenure and pick up the current company associated with it. If the candidate does not have an open-ended work experience, it will choose the most recent company (within last 3 years - recent). However, if this variable is selected, and the candidate has no work experience in the past 3 years (definition of recent), then the result will be <null>. For example, if you select @current_or_recent_company and the only/most recent experience of a candidate is July, 2021, the campaign variable value will be <null> or blank.
