Overview
The Sorting Studio feature helps you surface the most relevant candidates by expressing hiring intent more clearly than typical filters. Instead of relying solely on attribute matching, Sorting Studio evaluates candidates against targeted questions and prioritizes those who best match what you’re actually looking for.
This feature is designed to improve relevance when filters alone don’t highlight candidate strengths and specific insights.
Why Did We Build It?
Many users noticed candidate relevance didn’t always align with their expectations, especially when intent was difficult to express through standard attribute mapping alone.
Sorting Studio addresses this by:
Letting you ask qualifying questions directly
Evaluating candidates based on how well they meet those criteria
Sorting candidates by overall fit, not just filter matches
How Does It Work?
Sorting Studio builds on top of your existing search filters.
Start or edit a project as you normally would, using filters and attributes.
From the Copilot tab of recommended candidate results, click Sorting Studio.
Add scorecard questions. You can add questions that ask things like: “Does this candidate have Java experience working at a startup company?”
Input up to 5 criteria or questions by clicking Add Criterion, as well as useful shorthands for the criteria that will display in the UI. Note: The order in which these questions appear on the list above directly influence the "weight" of importance in terms of placement. In other words, your first listed question will have a greater percentage of importance for the candidate to have when Sorting Studio is working.
When finished, click Save & Evaluate. Findem then evaluates the top portion of candidates against each scorecard question.

Each candidate receives a visual match indicator showing how well they match:
More matching criteria = higher placement
Candidates with the most “matches” appear at the top of results
This makes it easier to quickly identify the strongest candidates for your specific needs.
To get a more in-depth view of each candidate's qualifications in relation to your scorecard criteria, hover over the match scores, or click View all to open the candidate's enriched profile, where the qualifications are explained in detail.
FAQ
Q: Where can I use Sorting Studio?
A: Sorting Studio is only available in the Copilot tab of any given project.
Q: Can I turn off Sorting Studio once enabled?
A: Yes, from the Sorting Studio button, click Disable for this Project. Turning it off returns results to standard sorting behavior.
Q: Can I use Sorting Studio to sort and group external (imported) candidate profiles?
A: Yes. Sorting Studio is currently available only in the Copilot tab. To work with external candidates using Sorting Studio, open the Copilot tab and apply the Channel filter to show only external candidates there; the Sorting Studio tools will then be available for those profiles.
Important to Note
Filters and attributes must be committed before rerunning Sorting Studio. Changing a filter or attribute does NOT automatically reorganize results. You’ll need to rerun Sorting Studio to apply updates.
Sorting Studio always builds on top of your existing search criteria; it does not replace them.
