Findem's Talent CRM offers Talent Pools as well as Talent Communities, making it easier to organize prospects, clarify intent, and engage the right candidates at the right time.
This article explains the difference between Talent Pools and Talent Communities, how to use them, benefits of using them in your recruiting efforts.
Overview: Talent Pools vs. Talent Communities
Talent Pools and Talent Communities may look similar, but they serve distinct purposes in Findem's CRM.
Talent Pools
Talent Pools are recruiter-driven, curated groups of pre-qualified candidates who are strong fits for future roles.
Use Talent Pools when you:
- Have sourced and vetted candidates
- Want quick access to hiring-ready talent
- Plan to engage candidates when a relevant role opens
Example:
A Sales Leadership Talent Pool containing experienced sales managers you've already qualified for future leadership openings.
Talent Communities
Talent Communities are opt-in groups focused on long-term engagement and relationship building.
Use Talent Communities when you:
- Want candidates to subscribe to ongoing communication
- Share newsletters, events, or employer brand content
- Nurture interest before candidates are job-ready
Example:
A Women in Tech community where candidates receive updates about company culture, events, and thought leadership.
Why This Separation Matters
By separating Talent Pools from Talent Communities, Findem helps you:
- Engage hiring-ready candidates without noise
- Build long-term pipelines independently of active hiring
- Maintain clearer intent across your CRM
- Ensure candidates are contacted with the right message at the right time
Recruiters can now focus on filling roles faster, while still investing in future talent relationships.
In the CRM, you'll see a dedicated Talent Pools tab as well as the Talent Communities tab.
Adding Candidates to Talent Pools
You can add candidates to Talent Pools in a few ways:
From a candidate profile...
- In your main CRM dashboard, click the Add to dropdown option.
- Select a Talent Pool.
- See whether the candidate is already in a pool. If they're already part of a Talent Pool, you'll see that status and won't be able to add them again. This prevents duplicate work on your part.
Bulk action...
- Select multiple profiles at once.
- Add them to a Talent Pool in a single action.
- Quickly build pools of pre-qualified prospects.
From other sources...
Talent Pools are available anywhere you add candidates, including:
- CRM views
- Search results
- The Findem Chrome extension
Terminology is consistent across the platform, so you'll always see Talent Pool instead of Talent Community where applicable.
Viewing Talent Pool Membership
You can easily see Talent Pool information throughout Findem:
-
Candidate profile activity feed
- See when a candidate was added to a Talent Pool
- View historical pool activity alongside other CRM actions
-
Side panel filters
- Filter candidates by Talent Pool membership
- Quickly narrow results to hiring-ready groups
You'll also continue to see Talent Community membership alongside Talent Pools, giving you a complete picture of how a candidate is engaged.
Managing Duplicate Talent Pools
If you discover duplicate Talent Pools that contain overlapping candidates, you can streamline your CRM by consolidating them:
- Contact Findem Support to consolidate candidates from the duplicate Talent Pool into a designated primary Talent Pool.
-
After consolidation, the duplicate Talent Pool is no longer needed and can be deleted.
If multiple Talent Pools were previously linked to the same Rolling Campaign, create a new Rolling Campaign and assign it to the primary Talent Pool, then stop any existing Rolling Campaigns that were associated with the duplicate pools to avoid unintended candidate assignments.
- Support can engage internal teams to help with consolidation and provide guidance on handling Rolling Campaigns.
Best practices
- Use Talent Pools for candidates you'd hire if the right role opened.
- Use Talent Communities for long-term nurturing and brand engagement.
- Check pool membership before adding candidates to avoid duplication.
- Leverage bulk actions to quickly build pools at scale.
- If you're using Findem-Influenced Applications reporting, be aware that adding candidates to a Talent Pool is generally treated under the same tracking mechanism as Talent Community actions. In some workflows, candidates may also need to be shortlisted for the action to be fully tracked, so confirm the setup for your specific workflow with your CSM or Support.
Summary
Talent Pools bring structure and clarity to how recruiters manage hiring-ready candidates in Findem CRM. By clearly separating Talent Pools from Talent Communities, your team can work more efficiently, collaborate more effectively, and engage candidates with greater intent—helping you hire faster and smarter.
If you have questions about migrating existing groups, consolidating duplicate Talent Pools, how Talent Pool actions are tracked for Findem-Influenced Applications, or best practices (including Rolling Campaign handling), reach out to your CSM or Support for guidance.
