What Does the Chrome Extension Do?
We recommend installing the Findem Chrome Extension to access the complete suite of functionalities offered on their Findem account.
Note:
The Findem Chrome extension is only fully supported by the official Google Chrome web browser. Using the extension with variations of Google Chrome or other Chrome-based browsers may result in performance or technical issues Findem cannot troubleshoot.
The extension is also supported on Microsoft Edge.
The Findem Chrome extension sits on top of any site you're on with sourcing information, like LinkedIn or Github for example. The extension will search for candidate information on the page and highlight any applicable profiles that match the sourced data.
Below is a list of supported sites the Chrome extension works with:
- Artstation
- Behance
- Bloomberg
- Codechef
- Codeforces
- Crunchbase
- Doximity
- Dribbble
- GitHub
- Google Scholar
- Kaggle
- Leetcode
- Quora
- Stackoverflow
- Theofficialboard
- Wellfound
- X (Twitter)
Some users experience login errors when attempting to install and use the extension, even if already logged in to the web version of the platform. To solve for this, be sure to clear all cache and cookies before beginning instillation. In addition, allow all 3rd party cookies in your Chrome settings. Another solution you can utilize after installing the extension (if you're still experiencing the issue) is heading to your Chrome extensions settings. From the Chrome menu in the top right of your browser, click Settings > Extensions > Findem > Details > Automatically allow access on the following sites. Ensure the toggle is flipped on.
How It Works
- When you log into your Findem account for the first time, you should see a notification: Make search stronger with a notice about the Chrome extension.
- Click Enable to open the Chrome web store. You can download the extension manually at any time by visiting Findem Extension on the Chrome store.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm by clicking on Add extension.
- The extension will be downloaded and automatically added to your browser. Once completed, you will receive a confirmation.
- By default, the Findem extension will be hidden. To pin it, click the Extensions icon on your chrome browser and click the pin icon.
- You should be able to see the Findem extension along with your other pinned extensions.
Note:
If you have a LinkedIn Recruiter account in addition to a public account (free or otherwise), the Findem Chrome extension will work across both accounts.
Using the Extension in Gmail and Outlook
The extension also integrates with Gmail and Outlook, adding a Findem bar at the top of your inbox. The feature provides insights into the candidate and the project they are shortlisted for, allowing you to track their interest and set their response type in Findem directly from within your inbox.
Updating the Extension Manually
In most circumstances, the Chrome extension will update automatically. However, we've seen a few cases where this doesn't happen. In this case, you can manually update the extension with the steps below:
- Paste this url in your browser: chrome://extensions/ and hit the Enter key.
- You'll be redirected to a page listing all your browser extensions. From here, toggle Developer Mode button on the top right of this page.
- Developer mode will open the Update button. Click it. Your extension (and all other Chrome extensions) will update to the latest version.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Extension Login Issues
If you're experiencing login problems with the Findem Chrome extension, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies (for all time, not just recent history) by clicking the 3 vertical dots at the top right of your browser window, then History > History > Delete browsing data. Check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.
- Enable third-party cookies in your browser settings.
- Add the [*.]findem.ai domain to your allowed sites.
- Ensure your browser and extension are updated to the latest version.
- Verify you're using the account associated with your Findem account.
- If problems persist, try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension.
Extension Not Displaying on LinkedIn
If the Findem extension is not popping up on LinkedIn profiles:
- Verify that you are logged in to the Findem web application.
- Refresh the page or restart your browser.
- Even if the extension is not displaying, you can still add profiles to your shortlist using the keyboard shortcut Shift+F.
LinkedIn Account Access Issues
In some cases, LinkedIn may temporarily limit your ability to view profiles or networks if it detects a high volume of profile views in a short period of time, which can appear as automated behavior.
If you experience restrictions on viewing connections, networks, or accessing other LinkedIn profile pages while using the extension:
- Stop the activity that may have triggered the block (for example, rapidly opening many candidate profiles).
- Follow any on-screen instructions from LinkedIn (for example, you may be asked to reset your LinkedIn password to regain access).
- Log out and log back into your LinkedIn account.
- Contact LinkedIn Support for additional details about the restriction, if needed.
- If LinkedIn requests more information about the activity or tools used, contact Findem Suppor, our team can review your case and provide information to LinkedIn if needed.
Viewing LinkedIn Profiles Without Sending Invitations
After a recent fix, users can now click on LinkedIn profiles in Findem and view them directly without automatically generating connection invitations. If you experience any issues with this feature, contact Findem support for assistance.
Creating a Project Using a LinkedIn Profile URL
When creating a project with a LinkedIn user profile URL, follow these steps:
- Enter the LinkedIn profile URL into the Lookalike Profile modal when creating your project.
Once the profile URL is entered, click Create Project.
Campaign Issues with the Chrome Extension
If you're experiencing problems with campaigns in the Findem Chrome Extension:
- For campaigns stuck in the Preparing stage, wait a moment to see if it progresses naturally.
- If you receive error messages like 'Unable to send reach out to recipient' or campaigns remain stuck, update the Chrome Extension to the latest version.
- After updating, clear your browser history/cache and then try the same shortlisting or reach-out action again.
- If issues continue after updating and clearing your cache, contact Findem Support for further assistance.
Platform Performance Issues
If you're experiencing slow performance in the Findem platform, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Restart your computer to clear temporary system resources.
- Check your device's CPU usage - if it's consistently at 90-95%, this can cause significant slowdowns across applications.
- Ensure you're not running multiple intensive processes simultaneously.
- If performance issues persist, contact Findem Support for further assistance.
