How does the platform handle resumes/profiles that are written in non-English languages for matching and representation in Projects, in particular those with special characters (e.g. Japanese, Chinese, etc)?
Findem supports profiles and resumes written in multiple languages, but there are key nuances in how language is handled for search, matching, and display.
Profiles are ingested as-is—meaning the language and characters used in the original source (e.g., resumés, public social media profiles) are preserved. The platform’s search operates directly on this source data, so a search term must match the language used in the profile. For example, searching for “Tokyo” will find profiles containing “Tokyo,” but not “東京” (the Japanese characters for Tokyo). Similarly, English keywords will only match English text, Spanish to Spanish, and so on. Cross-language search (e.g., English term matching Spanish content) is not supported.
To improve matching, it’s recommended to use both native-language and English keywords where possible. For instance, many profiles use English titles even in non-English-speaking countries, so dual-language search terms can improve results.
For language accessibility, Findem provides in-platform translation of profile content. This means users can view any resume or profile and choose to translate it in place, regardless of the original language. This is particularly helpful when profiles and resumes come from multiple sources in different languages—for example, a social media profile in French and a resume in English. Users can alternate between these sources and translate them as needed within the platform.
Finally, while most AI capabilities (like campaign content generation and the Profile AI assistant) can handle multiple languages, the Attributes feature currently supports only English input and output.
When using AI, you can input text to it in your preferred language, and not necessarily the native language on the resume, to get answers.
- English search terms will match to English words in a profile
- Spanish search terms will match to Spanish words in a profile
- English search terms will NOT match to Spanish words in a profile and vice versa
The AI can translate for campaign content generation, and Profile AI assistant. The only feature that doesn’t work currently in non-English languages is the attributes. Attributes are English dialog only.
